| Innovation Title | Naditee innovations on Gender Based Violence in Pokot community |
| Focus Area | Combating Gender-Based Violence (GBV) |
| Problem Statement: | Naditee innovations on Gender Based Violence in Pokot community mainly focuses on physical violence that is practiced resulting to physical harm of an individual for example the beating of women in meetings called "ameto"in Pokot community. This act results from women failing to obey men despite any cruel acts by men, women also are entitled to female genital mutilation which causes complications to their lives. It also addresses issues on socio economic equity which has been identified that in the distribution of resources, the government has focused on women gender leaving men behind in terms of economic equity that has hindered development. |
| Innovation Description: | Naditee innovations on Gender Based Violence is an innovation invented to reduce the increasing rate of Gender Based Violence. It will also ensures that equity in socio economic is considered leaving a healthy community. The innovation is likely to work around the Pokot community mainly on borders and interior places where the acts on Gender Based Violence are common ensuring that the agents of change who are some women and girls educated on the issues of Gender Based Violence to take part in the process so that the entire community will accept the innovations making them to conribute to the fullest reduction on Gender Based Violence. The key features of my innovation is that it is simple as it just address and give solutions to problems related to Gender Based Violence. My innovation directly addresses areas of problems such as physical violence which is mostly done to women and girls by ensuring that the responsible individual for the cause of such violence may be handled according to the law of the Kenya constitution which has assured the security right from Gender Based Violence. In socio economic violence,my innovation innovation directly addresses the issue giving suggestions on the distribution of resources matters which in most cases favours the female gender leaving men in just common life style as any other person. It also addresses the issue of psychology since it takes time for the tortured mind to reform as a result of psychological torture directly or indirectly by people who are not reasonable to one's gender for example a father defiling a daughter of eight years which exposes them to a very tough environment and difficult for their lives, the innovation is likely to offer psychological support to the victims affected by the crucial practice which makes the world and west Pokot community a better place to be. |
| Uniqueness and Innovation: | Naditee innovations on Gender Based Violence is unique due to the fact that the main focus areas of the violence are first tackled to reduce the effects of the causes of the Gender Based Violence to occur hence eliminating their growth. The main types of gender based violence in west Pokot community is physical violence which includes harmful practices like female genital mutilation which has led to loss of life resulting from excessive bleeding and difficulty during childbirth. The equal distribution of resources also is a unique feature since some laws put in place measures that encourages women female individuals to be treated more special than the other gender. |
| Impact and Scalability: | The positive impact of my innovation is that, the physical practice like the beating of women will reduce since the law of the republic of Kenya does not allow the practice and anybody else got practicing it will be held liable for an offence making them aware on the rights of women and girls and the importance of maintaining them. |
| Implementation Plan: | Identification this is to identify the causes of gender based violence and the agents so that they will be held accountable for the breaking of law. |
