In West pokot county some of the local communities encounter challenges of access and utilization of sexual Reproductive Health and Right services.This has negativity affect the livelihoods of young people and the community.Cherotoi sessions will therefore enable the young people and the community to be aware of SRHR services such as family planning and contraception,how they can get and use them.

Cherotoi session will involve gatherings of different age groups which will enable each one to participate and learn during the meetings. These groups will include a) Five Community elders. They will be Sensitize on the importance of family planning and how it will bring positive impact to the community.
b)200 young women and 100 young men age 18 to 35 years will be Sensitize on different family planning methods and contraception, access and utilization of SRHR services.
c)300 young adolescent of between 9 to 17 years will be trained on access and utilization of contraception.
d)Attend 2 school to train peer educators on SRHR.

Key features
Cherotoi sessions will engage both the elders and Young people because it is believed that the elders are the one to make some of the cultural change and decide on what should adopt by the community.
The most focused area is family planning and contraception within the pokot local communities since most of them live in rural places where they cannot access to SRHR information and services.

Cherotoi sessions will address the solution to problem such as high birth rate, teenage pregnancy and school drop out. It will change the attitude of community towards family planning and increase the capacity to seek SRHR services.

Cherotoi is a traditional name that pokot community used to refer family planning. This innovation is being understood by the community elders and will be easily accepted when creating awareness on SRHR information.The elders will have a positive attitude towards SRHR and they will have the interest to access and utilization of the SRHR products and services.The young people will be equiped with knowledge and skills,provide adolescent friendly services ,approachable and responsive environment.

The potential positive impact of cherotoi dialogue include:
a) Manageable number of children.
b) Reduce poverty.
c) Reduce teenage pregnancy.
d) create sustainable environment in the community.
e)Change the community attitude of the community towards family planning and contraception.

Cherotoi can be adopted widely in West pokot and also other communities in Kenya. The group will have peer educators who will pass knowledge and skills on positive ways of handling contraception and family planning to other generation.
