| Innovation Title | Chromosomal microarray |
| Focus Area | Promoting Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), including maternal health |
| Problem Statement: | Sexual and reproductive health right is an essential building block to achieving gender equality, but it’s restricted globally.when people’s sexual and reproductive health rights are denied, their well being is threatened .people who live in poverty are disproportionately impacted by the lack of access to their full health care rights. |
| Innovation Description: | Chromosomal microarray is a tool used for prenatal genetic research which helps researchers study congenital anomalies or genetic disorder in the foetus .This will help mothers who are affected with reproductive illness get treated before giving birth so as not to affect their offsprings. There’s postnatal genetic research which helps clinical researchers study congenital anomalies diseases and development delays in cases following birth . |
| Uniqueness and Innovation: | Most rural areas lack facilities such like the chromosomal microarray plus people who are not well off can’t afford the money to go get both prenatal and postnatal scanning. This being an issue within many communities ,scanning should be done free and everyone should be encouraged to go get tested. |
| Impact and Scalability: | Supposing there will be more provision of chromosomal microarray and scanning to be done free, there will be less effects of reproductive illness. Not forgetting awareness should be created based on the importance of getting genetic scanning .with this being done our future generation will be safe since there will be less cases of sexual reproductive illness. |
| Implementation Plan: | All hospitals should be provided with chromosomal microarrays and the government should also employ more skilled doctors who are able to treat reproductive illness,if the chromosomal microarrays are not provided on time the lives of our future generation is at stake since the illness can be genetic which will end up affecting our offspring . |
