Innovation TitleEnding sexual and gender based violence (SGBV)in informal settlements.
Focus AreaCombating Gender-Based Violence (GBV)
Problem Statement:

Due to increased cases of SGBV and relate matters in mukuru informal settlement, that mostly affect the daily youths life , we have found it better to stand responsible for the change we want to see in our community. This has also led to slow and almost no development in and within mukuru among the youths and tge community at large.

Innovation Description:

Our innovation to follow the channel be low for its expected success:
1. Prevention and awareness- since it's difficult for one to accept help out of abuse because the also don't know if what they are going through is gender based violence(GBV). After being aware of what violence is they will be able to report any case of GBV within their environs.
2. Empowerment and capacity building- increased dependancy rate being the most contrubuting factor to GBV and SGBV, empowering yong girls and women will creat a sustainable defense mechanism. Also it will enable young people that may end up being perpetraitors, will atleast have something to dovthat brings back financial benefit leading to a better state of independence.
3. Support and counseling- having survivors and victims, building support groups will help them bounce back and makr thd healing journey a community cooperation. The support will also reduce chances of stigmatization and descrimination of suvivors and victims in tge community. Including counselling professionals will also promote trust and confidentiality of what might have happened to the young girls and women and also the possible to be perpetraitors.
4. Community engagement- being youths that are willing to work with the community for the betterment of the community, engaging different stakeholders will help us access most of the targeted groups in tge community. This will also promote acceptability of our innovation in the community, easy navigation and most intended success of our innovation.

Uniqueness and Innovation:

Our innovation is bild open to work with all relevant marginalized groups in the community that happen to be more vulnerable in matters related to sexual and gender based violence(SGBV).
We will also be ready to exchange knowledge with the community in an interactive way that will creat tge bigger picture of the innovation to our community.

Impact and Scalability:

The awareness campaigns will make it possible for us to reach most if rge people in their most comfortable environments .tgis will make it easy for our team to have their full cooperation in tge implementation of tge innovation.
Skill development will also be a very impacful part of the journey because at the end of the innovation, most of tge people will have remained with a sustainable means of dealing with SBV within them.
Having counselling centers will also help victims, survivirs and also thise at risk to manage and deal with the threats around them. This counselling centers will literally help even those that are struggling with the healing process from GBV.
