| Innovation Title | SRHR Awareness and Digital Advocacy |
| Focus Area | Promoting Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), including maternal health |
| Problem Statement: | Our innovation addresses a multifaceted set of challenges: limited knowledge of SRHR and maternal health and the absence of proactive advocacy. Many individuals, especially youth and underserved communities, grapple with inadequate information, making them susceptible to unplanned pregnancies, infections, and maternal health risks. Concurrently such issues often remain unattended due to a lack of awareness, support, and stigma. Our expanded workshop on SRHR and maternal health intervention aims to empower participants to combat these issues by fostering awareness, advocacy, and practical skills to create informed, compassionate communities using the untapped digital tools. |
| Innovation Description: | Our innovation, the " SRHR Awareness and Digital Advocacy” is a groundbreaking program that seamlessly melds education and digital design to address critical issues in Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) and maternal health within the context of diverse communities. Participants are then introduced to the creative world of digital infographic design. They form teams to address specific SRHR or maternal health topics. Guided by design experts, they learn to visually convey information in a compelling way, translating their newfound knowledge into powerful, culturally sensitive content. Key Areas of Impact: SRHR Empowerment: The workshops equip participants with knowledge they can apply within their diverse communities, empowering them to make informed decisions that respect their cultural backgrounds. Maternal Health Advocacy: Participants become advocates for safe pregnancies and childbirth, understanding how to support maternal health, which is crucial in diverse communities, including refugees. In summary, the “SRHR Awareness and Digital Advocacy" is more than just a workshop; it's a bridge that unites knowledge, creativity, and the rich tapestry of diverse backgrounds within informal settlements, including immigrants by incorporating their diverse experiences. With the collaboration of educators and community leaders we empower participants to advocate for SRHR and maternal health in a way that respects and celebrates their unique cultural identities |
| Uniqueness and Innovation: | Our innovation distinguishes itself through its holistic approach, uniting education, digital design, and engaging presentation methods. Unlike existing solutions, our program not only equips participants with comprehensive knowledge and design skills but also empowers them to amplify their message. This is achieved through: Website Creation: Participants design dedicated webpages to present their info graphics, enabling them to reach a broader online audience and showcase their work. Social Media Campaign: Teams execute one-day campaigns, sharing their infographics, engaging with the online community, and igniting conversations about SRHR and maternal health. Community Exhibition: The colorful physical exhibition creates a platform for participants to showcase their infographics, allowing them to influence a wide-reaching local audience. By combining education, digital design, and dynamic presentation methods, our innovation ensures that knowledge is transformed into impactful action, fostering awareness and advocacy that makes it distinct from existing solutions. |
| Impact and Scalability: | Our innovation has the potential to yield profound positive impact on multiple levels. • Community Empowerment: By equipping individuals with comprehensive SRHR and maternal health knowledge, our program empowers participants to make informed choices about their health and advocate for the well-being of their communities, more so the underserved . • Amplified Advocacy: Participants, through their infographics and online campaigns, can significantly raise awareness about SRHR and maternal health, leading to a more informed and engaged community. This can contribute to reduced maternal mortality rates especially for the young mothers, and healthier reproductive choices. • Cultural Sensitivity: Our approach rooted in the participants being encouraged to openly share their beliefs, norms, and traditions without fear of judgment or criticism. Through its commitment to local engagement, our innovation has the potential to create a lasting impact at a scale that reaches far beyond the confines of a single workshop. |
