Young people are the most affected by HIV/AIDS in Vihiga county and Kenya at large. And this is because most Young persons lack knowledge on how they can protect themselves from HIV/AIDs. and even if they knew they do not know where to seek help if there is any challenge.

The 2021 HIV Progress report released by the Ministry of Health through the National Syndemic Diseases Control Council showed Vihiga County was among the Five Counties that did not meet global and national target of reducing new HIV infection by 75% between 2013 and 2021. Hence there is need to scale up HIV testing in the county, to counsel and reduce the risk for those who test negative, and to link those who test positive to care and treatment programmes. It is for this reason that stardykenya Community Based Organization has ventured into an ambitious programme where we intend to visit all the over 140 secondary schools within Vihiga County by 2025 with the major purpose of offering guiding and counselling but most importantly testing, testing and testing. We have also agreed with the local chiefs to help us mobilize the community through the barazas so that that we may educate the community on the need to protect the young people from the dangers of HIV/AIDs. We have teamed up with Unyo Touts/CSW Hawkers & Farmers CBO to bring the same services to this marginalized group in Luanda Town and other towns within Vihiga Couty. Our collaboration with Unyo Touts is to ensure we reach to Commercial Sex workers and the Touts who are not easily reached and whom through them we can easily reach.

Our programme is unique because we have a follow up strategy where through our website www.stardykenya.org we tell students to reach us free of charge in case of any problem.

Our main goal is to reduce HIV new infection rate by 80 percent, yet we are at 42 percent as a county, Currently we are working within the two sub counties of Vihiga and Emuhaya, but its our goal to roll out the programme through out the County and eventually through out the country.

We have teamed up with Ebukoolo Health Center who have given us Medics that we move with them to various schools and talk to children on Safe sex .
we also have teamed up with are chiefs who help us mobilize the community through barazas to tell the community on how they can help the youths protect themselves from HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases.
